Mitch Wylie

Mitch was selected by the Montreal Expos in the 1995 draft after his senior year in high school. He decided to attend St Ambrose University instead and was later drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 8th round during the 1998 draft. He pitched with the Chicago White Sox organization from 1998 – 2005, the San Francisco Giants organization in 2005, and the New York Mets organization in 2006. He also played 3 seasons with Independent league teams. He has over 15 years of coaching and player development experience. Mitch focuses on the physical and mental development of pitchers and has helped multiple Iowa players become selected in the MLB draft and play Division I baseball.

Dan
Jennings

Dan played Division I baseball with the University of Nebraska, before being drafted in the ninth round of the 2008 MLB draft. Dan played 8 years in the MLB with the Marlins, White Sox, Rays, Brewers and Nationals, and appeared in 390 big-league games. Over the 2017-2018 seasons, Dan lead all MLB pitchers with 149 appearances. His final big-league appearance came in 2019 with the World Series champion Washington Nationals. Dan’s extensive knowledge of player development and direct connections to professional scouts and college coaches helps place Prospect players on a direct path for recruitment. Dan places a heavy focus on mentoring the next generation of Iowa’s youth baseball players.

Sean Murphy

Coach / Development Instructor

A 1990 graduate of Johnston High School, he attended Indian Hills Community College, Creighton University and St. Ambrose University, playing in 2 college World Series and was drafter in 1994 by the Cleveland Indians. Sean’s professional career spanned over 10 seasons. He has been working as a coach and private/academy instructor for over 20 years, and coached 4A High School baseball for 5 seasons. Sean focuses on hitting skills from tee ball through college and professional levels. Sean brings a depth of knowledge of the skills that are important to college and professional scouts.

tyler eckberg

Coach/Developmental Instructor

Tyler just completed his first season with the Miami Marlins organization Double-A, Pensacola Blue Wahoos. Eckberg recorded 60 innings with an ERA of 2.55, 71 strikeouts, ten walks, and seven saves.

Before his professional career, Eckberg played Division I College Baseball at Kansas State University. During his collegiate career, Eckberg played as both an infielder and pitcher. As a pitcher, Eckberg had appearances as both a starting and relief pitcher, tallying over 60 games with 129 innings, 130 strikeouts, and 13 saves-ranked 4th overall in Kansas State in May of 2021 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Tyler offers hitting, pitching, and fielding lessons to players in 8U through high school. Additionally, he has experience coaching high school summer ball teams.

max mccay

Coach/Developmental Instructor

Max A former standout at Carlisle High School, possesses an impressive baseball background. He played collegiately at Marshalltown CC, Kirkwood CC, and Central Methodist University, where he achieved notable milestones. Max participated in two College World Series, one with KCC in 2018 and another with CMU in 2021, where he earned NAIA World Series All-Tournament honors. At Central Methodist, Max’s leadership skills shone as he served as a two-time captain and received recognition as a two-time Heart of America all-conference selection. He also contributed to CMU’s remarkable 2021 World Series National Runner-Up team. Max specializes in providing expert catching instruction and developing hitting skills. His passion and knowledge make him an excellent choice for catching and hitting instruction for individuals of all ages and skill levels.

Cam cowan

Coach/Developmental Instructor

Cam’s baseball journey includes notable achievements at various levels of the game. As an Ankeny Centennial Graduate, he showcased his pitching skills at Kirkwood Community College, contributing to the team’s success in reaching the Junior College World Series. Cam’s talent then led him to Division 1 baseball at Campbell University, where he earned recognition as the pre-season pitcher of the year and won a conference championship. In 2021, he signed a professional contract with the Cincinnati Reds. Cam’s commitment to continuous improvement is evident in his ability to consistently enhance velocity and command. His expertise covers all pitching roles, and he emphasizes aspects such as arm health/recovery, movement quality, and mental preparation.

cole mcdonald

Coach/Developmental Instructor

A native of New Hampton, Cole played Division I baseball at the University of Iowa where he was team captain and Academic All-Big Ten. Cole was drafted in 2019 by the Houston Astros where he has been steadily rising through the farm system.  Cole focuses on arm care, mental and physical preparation, velocity, and pitch shaping. He enjoys working with athletes of all ages.

TJ Roemmich

Coach/Developmental Instructor

TJ graduated from Dowling Catholic High School in 2006 and was first-team all-state as a junior and senior. Roemmich played four years of D1 college baseball at Creighton University, where he had dual roles as an OF and relief pitcher. TJ was also honored as an Academic All-Conference and All-District player during his time at Creighton. Coach Roemmich is available for hitting and pitching lessons for all ages.

cody wolfe

Coach/Developmental Instructor

Cody Wolfe, emerged from Ballard High School as the Ames Tribune All Area Player of the Year in 2019. He continued his baseball journey as a RHP at John Wood Community College. Cody’s experiences as a player now fuel his passion for coaching, as he recently coached at Ballard and eagerly looks forward to sharing his knowledge with current high school players. His first-hand understanding of the game and dedication to player development make him an invaluable resource for aspiring athletes.

Tanner Buenting

Coach/Developmental Instructor

Tanner graduated from Ankeny High School in 2013, where he was the starting shortstop on the 2012 4A High School State Championship Team, earning MVP honors for the Championship game. Tanner went to play at Iowa Central Community College and Division 1 baseball at Morehead State University.

nic mccay

Coach/Developmental Instructor

Nic McCay brings five years of valuable college baseball experience, having pitched at the Division 1 level for South Dakota State. His outstanding performance earned him the title of Freshman All-American in 2019 and two-time All-Conference Selection in 2019 and 2022. With a solid foundation built through four years of high school baseball at Carlisle, Nic possesses a deep understanding of the game. His coaching and private lesson experience in Iowa and South Dakota further enhance his ability to guide and mentor aspiring baseball players.

Nick Belzer

Coach/Developmental Instructor

Nick is a product of a Mitch Wylie’s pitcher development and training, and he is currently a pitcher in the Milwaukee Brewers organization. Nick graduated from Ankeny High School in 2013 and was on the 2012 4A High School State Championship Team, earning pitcher of year. Nick committed to Kansas State out of high school and finished his college career at Minnesota State Mankato. He will be available to coach and train players in the fall of 2021 and winter of 2022.
